Oracle lays off hundreds of staff

5 Aug 2022

CX Division hit hardest

Oracle is making large-scale job cuts, primarily from its CX division, supposedly to save around $1bn. So far, the layoffs have been mainly in the US, but it is expected to make further cuts in Canada, India and Europe.

Staff have reported on LinkedIn and Twitter that they were told the job cuts were for ‘organisational restructuring’ reasons. Marketing, sales, engineering and customer success for the CX division appear to have been hit the most by these layoffs.

What does this mean for customers of the company’s CRM, customer service, marketing automation, e-commerce and advertising clouds?

Oracle does have a history of supporting customers when it stops developing its products, so it’s recommended that customers contact their sales and customer success contacts to find out what the plans are and how these redundancies may affect them now and in the future.
